How to Print Poster Collages Using Adobe Photoshop

A great way to show off a collection of photos is to print poster collages using Adobe Photoshop. Using Photoshop or other image editing software will allow you to organize pictures over and over until you are ready to print without having to waste or damage old pictures. Whether you are using photos from a digital camera or older print photos that you have scanned into your computer, you will find that organizing and designing your poster print collage is much easier using a computer. You will need a copy of Photoshop or other photo editing software such as the free Paint.net software, a computer and the help of a great online poster printing company. An online poster printing company can help you print poster collages quickly and affordably with the added bonus of being able to ship poster print collages to friends and family who live in other areas as a thoughtful gift.

The first task is to gather all the photos you plan to use in one folder on your computer desktop. If you are using scanned photos, be sure that your scanner is set to its highest settings so that your collage images will appear crisp and clear. After you have assembled your photos, open your photo editing software and create a new file. There will be 3 fields you will have to fill before your image file is created: Height, Width and Resolution/DPI. Enter the height and width in inches for the desired poster size. When it comes to entering resolution it is recommended to create the collage at 150 or higher (higher being better quality). Write down the resolution number you selected before you continue, because you will need it later. After you have competed creating the image, you should see a plain white box which is the area of the image you are creating. To add images to your collage, Adobe Photoshop will allow you to simple drag your image files into the Photoshop window one at a time. Don't try to add too many images at once, because your computer may slow down to a crawl.

When adding images from Photoshop to your poster print collage, you must first decide how large you want the image to be. If you want the image to be 3 inches by 2 inches, you must first format that picture to fit that size. Use the cropping tool in Photoshop to resize the image. There will be fields in the top bar that appear when the cropping tool is selected. Enter the dimensions you would like the image to be and then enter the original resolution number you selected. Crop the image and then drag it into the poster print area. Move it around with your arrow until you are happy with the positioning. Continue filling your collage in this manner. If you wish to change the depth layer of an image (meaning which image is on top), click the image and then see its position in the layer window on the right hand side. Move the layer up or down to change its order of display. When you are ready to print your poster collage, simply save the file as a .png or .jpg file and search for an online poster printing company.
